The location : The battle : The battle’s outcome was very important. Indeed, the fate of the Gaul depended on it. As a result, Caesar built 15 km of fortifications around Alésia in a few weeks. Then, Romans built new fortifications (21 km long) to stop the reinforcements of the Gauls. Finally, Caesar won the Gaul and the Gallic War. It was the defeat of the Gauls under Vercingetorix.
