Dijon, the Burgundy prefecture (capital) is a big town built during the Antiquity by the Romans. It has a rich city center where we can find many things relating to the past.
First, our city is full of churches which are an inheritance of the past. For example, the Saint Bégnigne cathedral has a very nice roof with colored tiles. Our Notre-Dame, a 13th century church, has Jacquemart and Jacqueline on its top who ring all hours, hitting the bell with a hammer !
Behind this church there is an owl, the symbol of the city. People must touch it with the left hand and make a vow ! But, be careful, a dragon could steal it if you pass by in front of it after making your vow !
Many places make the heart of the city. For example, Republic Place or Darcy Place. On these places, people can gather or sit down on a bench to have a siesta or observe people. From Darcy Place, we can access the principal pedestrian road: Liberty Street (Rue de la Liberté in French ). All along this street, we can go shopping in a lot of shops and eat in many restaurants . For us, the nicest roads are the paved streets because they are from the origins of the town.
