The « Beaux Arts » museum is one of the most famous, old and beautiful museum in France. It's situated in Dijon, in the town center. On the first side, there is the museum and on the other side of the building, there are the City Hall, the «Beaux arts» school and the tourist board.
In 2008 it has been renovated.Today its area is 5000 m2.

History :
It has been built in the fourteenth century for the dukes of Burgundy, who were Phillipe le Hardi, Jean sans Peur, Phillipe le Bon and Charles le Temeraire. It was their palace. After the death of Charles le Temeraire, a lot of french kings stayed a while here. The tombs of the dukes are still there.
In 1767, the beaux arts school opened and then the Museum. It's only in 1799 that it has been opened to the public. In 1809, it became the city hall of Dijon. But during the WW2, they decided to hide the collection because Germans pillaged every museums. Unfortunately, they broke some beautiful statues.
