Le collège
A school years is divided in three parts called trimester. At the end of each trimester, we receive a report card which gather every marks with a little comment of our teachers. Besides, on the report card, there is our overall average of the trimester.
From eleven to fifteen years old, we have to go to “collège” (middle school) for four years and at the end, we have an exam called “le brevet”. In this exam, there are a french, history, mathematics and sport tests. When we get the brevet, we can go to the “lycée géneral” (highschool).
Le lycée
From fifteen to eighteen years old, we study in the “lycée général” for three years. At the end of the highschool, we need to get the “baccalauréat” to access to universities.
During the first year of highschool, we have to choose between a scientific, an economic, a literary or a technologic baccalauréats.
At the end of the second year of highschool, we do the first part of the baccalauréat with the french exam. And at the end of the last year, we do the second part: the subject assessed change according to the bac we have chosen.
We can get different mention.
From 12/20 to 14/20, baccalaureat with merit
From 14/20 to 16/20, with honours
From 16/20 to 20/20, with distinction
